Applying colour to a surface

Inspired by reading Roland Barthes’ ‘Camera Lucida’ and an quest to express the essence of loss photographs of abandoned residences are montaged with Barthes’ text and detritus from their locations. The images are juxtaposed with the conceptual poet Gloria Dawson’s work ‘Applying colour to a surface’ to explore and challenge, as Barthes’ did, our perception of image, memory and time.
